Dalam menyusun kata-kata menjadi kalimat yang benar,
maka kita harus mengerti bagaimana meletakkan kata demi kata itu sehingga bisa
tersusun baik dan bisa difahami. Kata-kata yang harus kita susun tersebut
umumnya ada 8 yang sering disebut dengan “ The Eight Parts of Speech”. Yaitu:
1. Noun ( Kata Benda )
Ada 5 kata benda yaitu:
a. Proper Noun
b. Common Noun
c. Material Noun
d. Collective Noun
e. Abstract Noun
2. Pronoun ( Kata Ganti )
Pronoun ada 6 yaitu:
a. Personal Pronoun
b. Possessive Pronoun
c. Reflexive Pronoun
d. Demonstrative Pronoun
e. Interrogative Pronoun
f. Relative Pronoun
3. Verb ( Kata Kerja )
Menurut objectnya:
a. Transitive Verb
b. Intransitive Verb
c. Linking Verb
Menurut bentuknya:
a. Infinitive
b. Past Tense
c. Past Participle
4. Adjective ( Kata Sifat )
Adjective dikelompokkan menjadi 8 yaitu:
a. Descriptive Adjective
b. Numeral Adjective
c. Quantitative Adjective
d. Interrogative Adjective
e. Distributive Adjective
f. Proper Adjective
g. Possessive Adjective
5. Adverb ( Kata Keterangan )
Adverb dikelompokkan menjadi 3 golongan yaitu:
a. Simple Adverb
b. Interrogative Adverb
c. Relative Adverb
6. Preposition ( Kata Depan )
Ex:in, on, at etc
7. Conjunction ( Kata
Penghubung )
Ex: and, not only...but also..., although etc
8. Interjection ( Kata Seru )
Ex: what a pity, Dear me, My God,,etc
